Rome (Italy), 17th october 2024: Her Excellency Ambassador Mmasekgoa Masire-Mwamba presented her Letters of Credence to H.E. Sergio Mattarella, the President of the Italian Republic at the Quirinale Palace in Rome.
Upon arriving at the Quirinale Palace, escorted by the Italian Diplomatic Protocol and motorised cuirassiers, Ambassador Mmasekgoa Masire-Mwamba received military honours in the Courtyard of Honour. Following the military honours, His Excellency President Sergio Mattarella received the Letters of Credence and thereafter invited the Ambassador for a meeting focusing on bilateral relations between the Republic of Botswana and the Republic of Italy.
Botswana and Italy enjoy excellent bilateral relations founded on shared principles and commitment towards the promotion of human rights, democracy, good governance and the rule of law. The two countries cooperate in the areas of tourism, health and education among others.
