Brussels: 15th May 2026: The Embassy of Botswana in the Kingdom of Belgium has since been receiving Members of the Diplomatic Community and friends of Botswana to pay tribute to the late Former President of the Republic of Botswana, Dr. Festus Gontebanye Mogae, (1998–2008).
The Embassy remains deeply touched by the overwhelming messages of sympathy, solidarity and support extended to the Government and people of the Republic of Botswana during this period of national mourning. Tributes received continue to reflect the immense respect and admiration held for the late Former President, whose distinguished leadership, humility and commitment to democracy and development earned him recognition both at home and internationally.
The Embassy takes this time to extend its sincere appreciation to all those who have taken time to convey condolences and honour the memory of the late statesman. The condolence book remains open at the Embassy premises for those who wish to pay their respects.
