Brussels (Belgium), 26th May 2026: The Ambassador-Designate of the Republic of Botswana to the Kingdom of Belgium, His Excellency Dr. Zein Kebonang, paid a courtesy call on Belgium’s Head of Protocol, Ambassador Pierre Cartuyvels today, to present copies of the Letters of Credence.
During the meeting, His Excellency Ambassador Kebonang conveyed warm greetings from the Government and people of Botswana and reaffirmed the commitment of Botswana to deepening bilateral ties and diplomatic engagement with Belgium.
The Ambassador also highlighted Botswana’s important role as a leading diamond producer and emphasised the country’s commitment to ensuring that the diamond industry continues to contribute to sustainable economic growth, job creation, and value addition. Discussions also focused on expanding trade relations and economic cooperation in various sectors.
The discussions further highlighted the longstanding cordial relations between Botswana and Belgium, as well as opportunities to further strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
For his part, the Head of Protocol Ambassador Cartuyvels reiterated Belgium’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations with Botswana and expressed appreciation for the long-standing friendship and continued cooperation between the two countries.
