Brussels, 22 March 2022, His Excellency Ambassador Samuel Outlule met with Ms. Mariyam Seena, Charge d’ Affaires of the Embassy to discuss Maldives candidature for the Human Rights Council (HRC), for the 2023 – 2025 term. The election is scheduled to be held during the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, in October 2022.
Ms. Mariyam Seena shared that the Republic of Maldives was a previously a member of the HRC for two consecutive terms in 2011 – 2013 and 2014 – 2016.
Botswana and Maldives have historical and cultural ties in various sectors including tourism and agriculture. The meeting committed to strengthening the cordial relations and cooperation between the two countries.
