Botswana Participates In The Brussels Travel Tour & The Brussels Holiday Fair – 1st to 4th February, 2024

Brussels (Belgium), 5th February 2024: The Embassy of the Republic of Botswana to the Kingdom of Belgium participated in two tourism promotion events in Brussels, Belgium from 1st – 4th February, 2024.


The first event was the Brussels Travel Top (BTT), which was held on 1st February, 2024. BTT is a tailored Business to Business (B2B) event targeted at networking for the travel and tourism sector.

The programme included workshops for travel professional, panel discussions on the impact of artificial intelligence on the tourism and travel sector, current travel and hospitality trends and sustainable flying.

Participation in BTT promoted Botswana as a tourism destination of choice. It also allowed for marketing Botswana as an ideal holiday location to travelers and tour operators.


The second event was the Brussels Holiday Fair, which was held from 1st to 4th February, 2024. The Holiday Fair is the largest travel and tourism event in Belgium. It is aimed at connecting the tourism industry directly to travellers and other stakeholders. Annually, the Fair attracts approximately 74 000 visitors, more than 300 exhibitors and 630 professional visitors.

The Embassy shared information about Botswana’s tourism offering by distributing brochures, sharing the 2023 publication of Discover Botswana and showing videos of Botswana’s tourism destinations. Traditional foods such as magwinya (fat cakes), seswaa (traditional pounded meat), mosukujane tea (Lippia javanica,) and Gemere (traditional ginger drink) were shared with more than 350 visitors over the 4 days,

Visitors shared their stories about their previous visits, whilst some committed to visiting Botswana in 2024 and some tour operators expressed interest in working with Botswana.
