Rome, 8th September 2022: The meeting was held on the margins of the ongoing 35th Session of the FAO Committee of Fisheries.
Botswana appreciated the FAO’s support for the development of Botswana’s Agricultural sector, through programmes such as the FAO Technical Cooperation Programme (FAO-TCP). It was noted that the aquaculture sector pays a key role in food and nutrition security, as well as, women and youth empowerment.
Cooperation in food security, agricultural tourism, development of the fisheries and aquaculture sector in areas such as water management, building capacities and comparative advantages and specialised aquaculture production were explored. Botswana and FAO committed to continuing discussions to advance cooperation.
