Bled (Slovenia), 29th August 2023: Her Excellency Ambassador Mmasekgoa Masire-Mwamba is participating in the 18th Session of the Bled Strategic Conference taking place from 28th -29th August 2023 in Bled, Slovenia.
The opening session took place yesterday 28th August 2023 and was officially opened by Ms. Tanja Fajon, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia. The conference is being held under the theme “Solidarity for Global Security” and is hosted by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia in collaboration with the Centre for European Perspective.
During the opening session, the event highlighted solidarity with the Republic of Slovenia following the recent floods that occurred in the beginning of August claiming lives and destroying infrastructure. The session also called for support for multilateralism, democracy, promotion of global development and sustainable leadership.
The Bled Strategic Forum was launched in 2006 and has evolved into one of the leading conferences in Central and South East Europe which offers participants an opportunity to discusses issues related to contemporary society and its future. The forum brings together different stakeholder such as global leaders, people from the fields of diplomacy and politics, private and public sectors, think tanks, NGO’s and academia to share experiences and disseminate their views on pressing matters such as climate change, digitalisation, cyber security, food security and global food systems, geo-political issues through panel discussions, roundtables and presentations.
The conference will conclude today with deliberations on issues related to decarbonisation and green transitions, energy security and addressing links between climate, conflicts and food security particularly in the Global South.
