Europe Botswana Business Forum (EBBF) Breakfast Session

Brussels (Belgium), 5th of September 2023: the Embassy and the EBBF organising team together with CBL-ACP and BITC hosted a breakfast meeting to promote the Europe-Botswana Business Forum and Global Expo that will be held on the 11-14 October 2023 in Gaborone, Botswana. The Breakfast Meeting attracted representatives from Chambers of Commerce and their members, and companies in Belgium, as well as the officials of the EU Commission.

During the event, the Acting Head of Private Sector Engagement and Employment (European Commission) Ms. Laura Atienza provided an introduction to the Europe – Botswana Business Forum and highlighted the partnership between the Government of Botswana and Europe. This was followed by a rich and insightful presentation on the EBBF and Global Expo made by Mr. Pierre Chapusette, EBBF Event Manager and Mr. Moemedi Mokgosi, Director of International Business, BITC UK office. The presentations promoted Botswana as a safe and desirable investment destination and also informed the participants of the logistical arrangements of the two events and unpacked the key sectors:

• Life Sciences, Health & Pharmaceutical;
• Green Financial & Business Services;
• ICT & Innovation;
• Manufacturing including Automotive and e-mobility including Automotive & E-mobility; and
• Mineral Beneficiation

The Belgian companies were encouraged to register for the EU-Botswana Business Forum (EBBF) 2023 by visiting EBBF official website  and Global Expo Botswana’s. The two events aim to provide a platform for delegates to share experiences and explore ways to strengthen cooperation, network, and exchange ideas on trade and investment topics such as business development strategies, industry trends, market opportunities, and special economic development.

In closing, the Ambassador of the Republic of Botswana, Her Excellency Mrs. Mmasekgoa Masire Mwamba, reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment and readiness to work closely with the business community in Belgium and the EU to build a strong partnership that will lead to economic success. She also undertook to continue engagements with the business community through company visits and setting up business-to-business meetings between Belgian companies and potential partners in Botswana.
