Embassy’s Participation To The CSP30 of the OPCW

The Hague (The Netherlands), 1st December 2025: The Embassy of Botswana in Brussels participated in the just ended 30th Session of the Conference of the States Parties (CSP30) of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), held in The Hague, Netherlands, from 24th to 28th November 2025.

The Conference provided an important platform for State Parties to review and discuss the status of implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), assess ongoing efforts to address the threat of chemical weapons use, approve the Programme and biannual Budget for 2026–2027 and strengthen support for the OPCW Africa Programme. Furthermore, State Parties underscored the need to strengthen institutional governance within the OPCW, ensuring that the Organisation remains transparent, effective and capable of addressing current and emerging chemical threats.

Botswana’s delegation was led by Her Excellency Mmasekgoa Masire-Mwamba,  Permanent Representative of Botswana to the OPCW, who delivered Botswana’s National Statement. In her intervention, Her Excellency Masire-Mwamba reaffirmed Botswana’s unwavering commitment to the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) and to the global prohibition of chemical weapons. She underscored Botswana’s steadfast support for the OPCW’s mandate and its continued efforts to advance international peace, security and stability.
